New GPA Monitoring Approach - Computer Application

NEW GPA MONITORING APPROACH
Computer Application for Monitoring the Plan's implementation and
for the establishment of the National Information-Sharing Mechanism

The computer application is aimed, as the information-management tool, to assist countries to monitor their progress in the Plan's implementation through the establishment of a National Information-Sharing Mechanism on GPA Implementation. The application serves to gather and exchange information, as defined by the reporting format, between and among Stakeholders and the National Focal Point.

The application is presently available in Arabic, Chinese, Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Malay, Russian, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese.

It has been developed with license-free, open-source software, to facilitate its use by all Member Countries. Upon request to FAO all the software code is made available to the National Focal Points. Since its first release in 2003, FAO has ensured the development of new features, based on feedback from the countries, as well as debugging and maintenance of the computer application.

Two versions are presently been distributed to Countries, one with read and write capabilities for gathering and disseminating information (see its Manual) and the other web-based and read-only for disseminating the information through the web site of the National Mechanisms on GPA Implementation.

At present, Mechanisms are operational in:

Azerbaijan
Cuba
Czech Republic
Ecuador
Bolivia
Fiji
Ghana
Kazakhstan
Kenya
India
Lebanon
Mali
Papua New Guinea
Uzbekistan
